Joel Wright is the Chief Legal Affairs Officer for Albany State University. He started his career in higher education at Georgia Southern University as the Associate Dean of Students for Military Affairs and then as the Director of Equal Opportunity & Title IX. He has also served the University System of Georgia as the Interim System Director for Conduct and Title IX. Prior to his career in higher education, Mr. Wright practiced law in the private sector.

As a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of nearly 13 years, Mr. Wright deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Georgia Southern University, and his Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law.

Mr. Wright was selected as one of the Statesboro Herald’s 20 Under 40 for his professional achievements and civic contributions to the community. In Statesboro, he was an active member of the Downtown Rotary Club, served as a board member of the Ibis Foundation, the Statesboro Mainstreet Farmers' Market, and as past Board Chairman of The Hearts and Hands Clinic. Joel and his wife, Amy, have six children who attend Sherwood Christian Academy.
